Farscape Costumes page 2
My Delvian, named Cyan Vish'na, is my third Farscape costume.  This costume was very popular at the Creation Entertainment convention that was held in Dearborn, MI in October of 2001.  It was at this convention that I met Virginia Hey.  She complimented my work very highly.
For this piece, I borrowed a bit from a previous costume, and added some accessories.  The neck piece and cloak are new, as well as a pair of leather vanbraces. The neck piece is made from blue deerskin over a layer of quilted gold lame'.  The scroll designs are done in gold metallic braid trim.  Within the scrollwork are several blue Paua shell cabachons.  Attached to the back is a narrow cape of sheer gold metallic fabric with gold floral looking vine patterns. The vanbraces are done in black and blue leather, with metallic gold snakeskin insets.  They also have metallic gold piping trim, and blue Paua shell, and Lapis cabachons.  I used black leather laces as fasteners.
For the hair, I bought a nearly white wig.  For the surface color I used colored hairspray in several light layers till I got the effect I wanted.  At the roots, I added a somewhat darker shade of blue by applying blue eyeshadow.  Once I had the color right, I sprayed the whole thing with a clear glitter spray that had a slight opalescent effect to it.
The makeup took about 2.5 to 3 hours to apply with me doing it alone.  After applying the base, which was a metallic looking peacock blue color, I used various stencil patterns to apply both the highlight spots and darker patterns.  The stencils were parts of various floral patterns that I bought from a craft store.
This costume was tied for first place in the costume contest at AggieCon in College Station in 2003.

The latest in my series of Farscape costumes is yet another award winner.  It received both a workmanship award and the Crowd Pleaser award in 2006 at ApolloCon 3 in Houston.

The coat is constructed of black faux leather with an ostrich texture and silver gray tafetta. The corset is made of  dyed deerskin and two colors of snakeskin with leather lacing. The overpants were made from an open patterned gray knit with silver interwoven threads. The bias tape for the coat is light gray while the corset was done with black.

This was one of the most time consuming of my costumes due to the construction process that required bias tape to be applied to all seams of the coat. With the exception of the two back seams, all other construction of the corset was accomplished with craft glue, lacing and fusible hem tape.
