My Peacekeeper Captain, who is named Capt. Lira Sun, is now complete. I have recently added photos of the finished work.
For it, I started with a commercial jacket pattern, Butterick 6792, which was modified with some help from my friend Debbie. The base jacket is made of a heavy cotton twill with red piping trim. The chest piece is textured leather which I had to dye in an unusual way. The finish of the leather wouldn't allow the use of standard dye. I used india ink with a paintbrush so that the color would penetrate the recessed areas of the texture. The bottom part of the jacket is also leather, and is made like a wrap around skirt so that the costume can be worn with or without it.
The hat was one of the last parts that was done. We fabricated a pattern, and constructed it out of leather. After consulting with Karl from Karlsweb.com, another skilled costumer, and finding a decent picture for reference, I was able to finish the rank patch on the chest plate. It was made using layered and carved tooling leather, and round leather lace for the intricate detail work.
This is another of my prize winning costumes. It won third place at the 2nd Annual Official Farscape convention in Burbank. Lani told me that it looked very authentic.

My second Farscape creative endeavor was my Nebari, who I've named Cirra. She was tremendously popular at the 2nd official Farscape convention. Gigi saw me in the audience during her presentation, and called me up on stage with her. She said I was her scary looking relative.
This costume is a completely original design, and is assembled almost entirely with lacing and leather glue. The vest is hand studded and trim detailed leathers, and snakeskin, done in black, gray and red. The long sleeved shirt underneath is a metallic silver, and snakeskin sort of print on a very sheer material. The short sleeve shirt is a very open pattern short knitted top. The belt is all hand assembled with leather, and snakeskin decorations, trim, and studs. The pants are leather. The holster for the pulse pistol is a handmade replica of Crichton's.
The revised version of this costume won second place for the re-creation category at ApolloCon in Houston.
